FinTech Outlook: Trends, Insight & Technology

FinTechs in Poland in 2023 compared to 2022 has increased by as much as 82%. The growth has been going on for years: in 2018, there were 167 FinTech companies in Poland, and last year there were already 417 of them.

<aside> 💡 As many as 45% of companies in this sector are based in Warsaw. The percentile share of FinTech companies in the capital increased by 6 percentage points year-on-year. With its innovation ecosystem and support for startups, the capital is attracting talent and investments, shaping the future of financial technology. Warsaw is emerging as the FinTech capital of the CEE (Central and Eastern Europe) region. This concerns particularly such areas as cashless payments and the development of blockchain technology.

Currently, according to data from the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF), at the end of December 2023, the following companies were operating in Poland: 29 commercial banks (90.4% share in assets), 492 cooperative banks (7% share in assets), 34 branches of credit institutions and foreign banks (2.6% share in assets).
